Neco Pass update!

Hello neighbors!
We are sorry for the delay in news on the program but your coordinators have been busily assembling the information to send off to RTD.

Our fundraising efforts got off to a slow start, but as of right now we have submitted requests to RTD for two qualifying areas. We are now waiting for the contracts to be drawn up so we can determine when we will be able to pass out stickers to the qualified participants.

For those people who submitted checks and did not qualify, we will be returning your checks as soon as we can.

Please check out the maps to see if you are in a qualified area, click the image below to enlarge.

Call to Arms

Hello to all of you charming Martin Acres NECO Pass Volunteers!

We have started things rolling over here and now we are hoping to meet with you all and get things really progressing.

We will be hosting a series of meetings this Saturday morning and would like you all to stop by for materials and some guidance.

Everyone is encouraged to come and if you know of others who should be on this list but are not please speak up or invite them or both.

The meetings will be this Saturday October 7th:

10:00am-10:30am
11:00am-11:30am
12:00pm-12:30pm

We will also be handing out some posters for people to help distribute around the neighborhood and (hopefully) stuffing envelopes.

Anyone is welcome to join us. If you are interested please email us at ecopass@gmail.com to tell us when you can make it and we will give you directions.
Please be sure to include your address in the email so we can be sure to have the correct information for you!

Thank you

A Note From Alia, the Volunteer Coordinator

Hello Neighbors:

In case you're not familiar with the Eco Pass program, this is an unlimited bus pass for the RTD system, including all regional buses and the SkyRide. If you go to the airport and/or Denver even a few times a year, the pass generally pays for itself pretty quickly. Thanks to GO Boulder, it also includes a variety of discounts with local retailers. This year, we're hoping to get the Southern Sun on board!

Each year neighborhoods must qualify for the program, which requires negotiating some rather convoluted rules and regulations. Happily, last year we had great success in getting several blocks qualified, and we're hoping to expand that success this year.

We'll have an Eco Pass Table at the Pancake breakfast in September where anyone can chat with us personally and qualified neighbors can purchase a pass if they have not done so already*.

Each block interested in qualifying for an Eco Pass will need a coordinator. From my experience last year, this will require a commitment of 4-6 hours spread over a few weeks. Last year, I found this to be a wonderful way to meet my neighbors, and as the volunteer coordinator, I'll be happy to work with block leaders to show you the ropes and support your efforts.

At this point, we don't have details on program pricing and deadlines, but we will update with this information as we receive it.

Thanks for your time, and hope to see you on the bus soon!

Alia Ghandour

*If you qualified for 2006 you are able to get a pass now, no need to wait for the breakfast. Just contact us and we can help!

Getting Started

We met yesterday and worked to identify what we all needed to do to get this program running. We have realized that we have two main steps to begin with:

1. Get volunteers (block leaders)!
2. Make sure those that qualified this year have the chance to get passes.

If you are wondering if you qualify for a pass for 2006 please email us your name and address and we will check. Not all of Martin Acres qualified in 2006 but if you are among those that did, you are eligible for a pass. We can provide details for all Martin Acres neighbors.

If you are interesed in becoming a block leader for 2007 please contact us!
